These days, there are many scanlation group. And some of them are working over the same series. Quite a lot of scanlation group working on THE BIG THREE and there was once a fight between Transcendence and Dragon&Fly Scans over Black Bird. If I'm not mistaken Sakicow and A-Team also fighting over the rights of scanlating Berserker. And now, the newest one is Manga Pirate. Manga Pirate is scanlating quite a lot of series from Big Three to Tower of God and some of EGScan project. They release their chapters daily. As a reader I'm quite happy with scanlators competition. Competition will make the series updated faster and come up in better quality. So, I want to know your opinion (as a scanlation group's staff or as a reader), which one do you choose, quality or speed?

Re: Speed vs Quality
I'm not a picky reader. I will read whatever scanlators who did the fastest job in updating manga. Since English isn't my first language, I'm not too bothered with grammar mistakes (maybe I don't realize the mistakes too)... But, in term of quality, I'm quite bothered when the image isn't edited well. It doesn't mean to be perfect, but just good enough so I can easily read the text and see the beautiful image.

Re: Speed vs Quality
I will choose speed. Rather than dying to know the continuation of the series I would rather read a speedy chapter even though the quality is bad, but when another scanlator release the same chapter (with better quality) I will read it too. At the same time, I'm really greatful with all scanlators. If there aren't scanlators, I won't be able to read manga. So, I don't quite understand all the trolls and rants over the quality of a scanlation manga. Come on.. Scanlators aren't a professional publisher. We do this just for fun. And as a reader we should be really thankful to those people who spend their times (hours or even days) to translate and edit image.

Re: Speed vs Quality
I agree with McKnz. I'm really grateful there are a lot of scanlation group in this world. Without them I might not be able to read manga FREE... Yeah that's the problem. I don't have enough money (yet) if I have to buy all my favorite manga. So, basically, I'm happy with whatever they gave me.
But, in case of SPEED vs QUALITY, I think I will choose quality. It's easier to read good quality manga, even though, I won't go mad troll and rant just because some scanlation group release a low quality manga.

I think I'll choose speed. And yes I'm agree with Skylar. I'm not really picky about the quality, as long as I can read the text easily and the picture is fine

Re: Speed vs Quality
So, I can't choose both? Speed & quality will be the best combination. But if I have to choose, I will choose quality. You know, I used to read several harlequin manga. And the scanlator releasing lots of manga in short time. But the quality? It's really MEH... Not only a lot of grammar mistakes, but editing is really terrible too. So, I will choose to read manga based on its quality. I don't want to spend my time with bad quality scanlation.

Re: Speed vs Quality
Looks like a lot of people choose speed over quality. Personally, I will choose speed too. Rather than dying to know the continuation of the series, I would rather read the terrible quality scan. When there is another better release, I will re-read it again...

Uhm... we don't have anything like that.
Since scanlation group is more like community..
But, we do have some kind of ethic codes.

Tho, there is a minimum quality in my standard
a terrible grammar or chopped page will stop me from reading
@Dodobu
Scanlator Drama
that drama series is sure long...
